Ben Stiller, paparazzi, and... groundwork coffee company? Just another day, in L.A. Can you find us in this TMZ.com footage?
All coffees are whole bean, with the exception of our new Big Easy Chicory Blend which comes in a universal grind (Yes, grinding your coffee immediately before preparation is preferred, but putting organic chicory through your home grinder is not an option-- trust us.).
Available cans include:
• Black Gold - super sweet, medium body, soft finish.
• Angel City - big and bright with a beautiful floral note.
• Angel City decaf - water decaffeinated coffees from the Americas.
• Peru, San Ignacio de la Frontera - notes of subtle citrus and milk chocolate.
• Brazil - balanced and full bodied with notes of tropical fruit.
• Black Magic - espresso with a big berry aroma and subtle citrus finish.
• Big Easy Chicory Blend - organic chicory lends earthy notes (and slightly less caffeine) to this light bodied coffee blend. You’ve never had a chicory blend that was so pleasant to drink. (Big Easy Chicory Blend is only available in a universal grind.)
Select groundwork coffees are now available in a 1 pound can. Unlike most coffees out there, we’ve packed a full 16 ounces of coffee into each can-- reminiscent of the days when a pound of coffee was,... well,... a “pound of coffee.”

Java Mulch (it’s free!)
Reuse, recycle, and your plants will love you for it!
Stop by one of our five Los Angeles locations (not available at our Traction Ave. location), and take home a free bag of Java Mulch, spent coffee grinds-- packed in previously used coffee bags. (No purchase is necessary, limit one per customer, per day.)
Using Java Mulch in your garden saves landfill space while perking up your petunias! (Petunias really don’t care about their soil pH, we just liked the alliteration.)
Actually, acid loving plants such as azaleas, roses, camellias, and tomatoes love coffee grinds. And by increasing soil acidity, you can turn your blue hydrangeas pink!
As we say here in Hollywood, “It’s in the can!”
Other uses of Java Mulch include:
1) Sprinkling Java Mulch around plants before rain or watering, for slow-release nitrogen.
2) Add Java Mulch to your compost pile to increase the nitrogen balance.
3) Dilute Java Mulch with water for a gentle, fast-acting liquid fertilizer. (Add a cup of Java Mulch to five gallons of water.)
4) Mix Java Mulch into the soil of houseplants or vegetable beds.
5) Problems with slugs?... circle the base of your plants with a Java Mulch and eggshell barrier

groundwork coffee company, a Los Angeles coffee pioneer since 1990. (read the full article here)
Why a can?
Because it’s our first step toward an environmentally, more friendly, vessel for our beloved, organic, Arabica bean. Those plastic bags with the incredibly sophisticated valves are great for coffee, but not so great for our landfills.
Our canned coffee is another story-- with an aluminum bottom, an easy open aluminum foil top, a #4 recyclable lid, and cardboard composite sides, this can can be recycled by most communities in the USA.
Since our coffee isn’t roasted until you order it, you too, can help the environment-- all you have to do is order an amount of canned coffee which you will consume within 2 weeks, and voila! no need for a nasty plastic valved bag! Then recycle your can, or put it to another good use-- random nuts and bolts love an old coffee can!

This past Election Day, it seemed merchants were willing to give away just about anything. But we created our vote promo with some historical relevance in mind. While we were doling out the cups o’ joe, the Los Angeles Times reported the phenomena, featuring groundwork in their business section.
